The aim of the game
In snakes there's 3 roles. The mongoose of truth and ordinary humans must work together to pick the right answer. The sneaky snakes must convince them otherwise.
Setup
- Give each player an A, B, C and snake voting chip.
- Choose a moderator.
Make a stack of character tokens Including:
- 1 mongoose of truth.
- 1 ordinary human for 4 players, 2 for 5 or 6 players and 3 for 7 or 8 players.
- 2 snakes for 4 or 5 players, 3 for 6 or 7 players and 4 for 8 players.
Gameplay
To start the game, shuffle the character tokens and deal one face down to each player.
Everyone keeps their role secret, apart from the mongoose of truth - they flip their token over and take the mongoose figure to show they can be trusted.
Now, the moderator takes a question card and reads it aloud, making sure no one can see the answer on the back, and places it in the middle of the table.
Next, everyone closes their eyes and the moderator flips over the card without looking at it to reveal the answer on the back. Then, the moderator tells all snake players to open their eyes and look at the answer.
After 5 seconds the moderator tells snakes to close their eyes, flips the card back over and everyone opens their eyes again.
Now everyone has 2 minutes to discuss the answer. Humans and the mongoose must seek the truth. Snakes must convince them otherwise.
After discussing, each player places a chip face down, voting for answer A, B or C. If you’re a snake, put down a snake chip instead.
After voting, reveal the chips and flip the card to reveal the answer.
Each Human and Mongoose that answer correctly score a point per player that answered correctly.
For example, if 3 people answer correctly, that’s 3 points. Those that answer incorrectly score nothing.
Snakes score 1 point for each incorrect vote.
After scoring, shuffle the character tokens and start a new round.
Game End
Whoever has the most points after 6 rounds wins!
If there’s a tie, play a game of rock, paper, Snakessss!
