The Lewis Chessmen: Historical Chess Set Reproduction (Large)
Large Lewis Chess Set
This large, full set of chess pieces is a replica of real historical find - The Lewis Chessmen - that date back to the 12th Century.
The Lewis Chessmen were discovered on the Isle of Lewis in 1832, the Chessmen and represent the feuding lords and brutal Viking invasions of their time.
Handmade in the UK, these authentic looking poly-resin reproductions have been precisely sculpted with the aid of 3D laser scans. Their faux ivory finish helps them closely match the originals (which were made of walrus tusk) and have been finished off with a soft black felt base to help the sit smoothly.
Housed in an attractive display box with protective foam cut-outs, the biggest piece in this large set (the king) stands at 8.5 cm tall.
This characterful chess set will add some historic ambience to a home and makes for a thoughtful gift for the history buff that's partial to a game.
Please note this set includes playing pieces only and does not come with a board.
