The aim of the game

To win, graduate your coloured kittens to cats and line up 3 in a row on the bed.

    To set up

    • Place the box upside down to form the bed and put the quilt on top
    • Each player picks a colour, places the 8 matching kittens in front of them and the 8 matching cats in reserve
    • Whoever most recently petted a cat begins.

    To play the game

Players take it in turns, placing one of their kittens on ANY empty space on the bed.

Line up 3 of your kittens in a horizontal, vertical or diagonal line and they’ll graduate into cats. Take them off the bed, put them away and add 3 cats from your reserve in front of you to replace them.

On future turns, you can now place either a kitten or a cat you have access to.

If you line up a combination of cats and kittens, remove them all from the bed, graduating the kittens and gaining access to that many cats.

    • You’ll always have a maximum of 8 pieces.
    • Once all your kittens have graduated, you’ll just have cats.

If you line up 3 of your cats in a row, you win!

But it’s not that simple… When you place a kitty on the quilt, it’ll ‘boop’ any solitary kitty adjacent to it, pushing them one space away.

    • A kitten will boop any kittens, but not cats
    • A cat will boop any kittens AND cats it’s placed next to

UNLESS there are more than one kitty in a row, they cannot be booped.

For example, if I place this cat here, it will boop this cat and this kitten, but not this kitten, or this cat, as they have another piece directly behind them.

    • If a cat or kitten is on the edge of the bed and gets booped, it falls off and is put back in front of you.
    • A kitty that has been booped does not boop other kittys where it lands.
    • If booping causes a line of 3 similar kittens or cats to be made, remove it and graduate any kittens in the line.

In the rare case you make a row of more than 3, or overlapping rows, choose a row of 3 to graduate and leave the rest on the bed.

If ever you have all 8 pieces on the board at the start of a turn, choose one to remove. If it’s a kitten, graduate it, if it’s a cat, save it to place next turn.

    Game end and scoring

The first player to make a horizontal, diagonal, or vertical line of 3 cats of their colour, OR have all 8 of their cats on the bed at the end of a turn wins!

That’s boop, a cute little game about pushy little kitties…Enjoy!
