Cities: Skylines

Cities: Skylines is a co-operative board game based on the popular computer game of the same name. It's the ultimate city-building game in tabletop form!

In Cities Skylines, players must work together to plan, build, and manage a successful city.

The key to developing a successful metropolis is a happy population. As you choose how and where to build, you must consider a variety of factors such as the environment, crime, traffic flow, education, and financial resources.

Each game you'll be provided with new challenges by the emergent behaviour of you city. Do you have what it takes to work together to make the burgeoning, successful city of the future? Or will you waste all your money on pet projects and go bust?

How to play?

  • .Gameplay starts with four land boards being visible, the exact number varying depending on the scenario.

  • The goal is to finish a number of milestones and make your population happy.

  • At the start of each milestone, an additional board is bought and flipped over from its natural, to its developed side.

  • Players have personal cards that show what they can build, and plan with each other the best way to build.

  • Cards show the effects each building has, such as decreasing crime, or giving a bonus if placed next to a park.

  • Tiles represent different types of buildings, and vary in shape and effect.

  • When the players have developed the city to a new milestone, they choose which new board to buy next, score their  happiness, and begin a new milestone.

  • When the last milestone is passed, the game ends, and total happiness scored.

  • Players add to the city treasury when they make money and take money from it for building. Making sure you have good cash flow is essential, as if you go bust, you lose.
